Mobility – Uničov, Czech Republic

From May 12 to 16, 46 international participants of the Erasmus+ project gathered at Haškova Elementary School in Uničov. We were delighted to welcome teachers and students from Portugal, Spain, Romania, and Türkiye. The goal of this project meeting was to establish collaboration between schools and to introduce the foreign guests to the use of the CLIL method in teaching, combined with modern technology. Specifically, this involved incorporating English into the teaching of other subjects and using it while exploring local trails through the TurfHunt app.

The Monday program kicked off with a performance by Haškova school students in the concert hall, where they presented a beautiful cultural program full of songs and dances. A flag parade introduced the flags of all the participating countries. This was followed by a school tour, classroom visits, and joint lessons with Czech and foreign students. In the afternoon, both Czech and international students went on a walk using the TurfHunt app, which guided them through some of Uničov’s most interesting historical spots.

Tuesday was dedicated to a tour of the historic center of Olomouc. In the afternoon, teachers attended an inspiring workshop titled How to Prepare a Good CLIL Lesson, led by PhDr. Petra Vallin from Prague.

Wednesday was all about a hiking trip to Rabštejn, once again combining English learning with the TurfHunt app. This time, students followed a trail called The Little Prince’s Journey, where they got to explore the content of the famous book in English while completing tasks and joining in cheerful and playful teambuilding activities. The weather was perfect, allowing our foreign friends to admire the beauty of the forested Jeseníky region from the Rabštejn ruins.

Thursday brought more collaborative learning at school. International students participated in three workshops, while teachers were trained on how to use the TurfHunt app and explored its potential applications in education. Afterwards, students took a walk in the park, guided by another TurfHunt trail – this one created by our own 9th graders, titled Knowledge Hunt for 9th Grade.
In the afternoon, all participants, including our students, received certificates of participation in the project, and we wrapped things up with a closing gathering and refreshments.

A big thank-you goes out to all the teachers and cafeteria staff, who even prepared English labels and menus for the dining hall.
